Question1: How can some of these sessions be free?
Answer: The generous support of our members and industry professionals allows us the opportunity to share sessions with some of the top engineers around. Our only request is that you join and contribute yourself as the opportunity arises.

Question2:

What is the "Deposit" for the weekly group study sessions? How does it work?
Answer:

The deposit is simply an incentive system to reward members for following through the session to completion and get certified more quickly than they normally would without a peer group to drive an accelerated pace.

The deposit is used to cover:

  1. meeting room expenses & website hosting (shared amoung members who made deposit)
  2. Prize(s) awarded to the engineer(s) who receive the top marks on the exam within two weeks from the last session for that section
If the engineer has passed the specified exam within two weeks from the last session for that section, they will be refunded the remaining unused amount of their deposit. This amount is dependent on the number of members who sign-up for that section and how many weeks of meeting room was used.

Members who sign-up, make the deposit, but do not attend regularly, keep up with the reading or write the test within the time frame necessary graciously donate their remaining deposit to a charity nominated by the members at the beginning of the section.

What is the history of AppleCert?
Answer:

Leopard and Tiger Certification sessions have run for the past few years from ACSP, ACTC through to ACSA. A great team of members contributing meeting venues, guest speakers, time and energy to make it all possible. The vast majority of members follow through to qualify for the remaining deposit, while a few choose to donate their remaining deposit to charity. In 2008, a donation of 75,000 yen was made to buy textbooks and 6 months of GPRS connectivity for 2 or 3 rural schools in the Kandal and Prey Veng provinces in Cambodia.

ウィークリースタディーのセッションでは「デポジット」を支払う事になってますが、いったいそれは何ですか？
答え: このセッションは認定資格を取得するという目的で行われるものです。各人が支払ったデポジットは、認定資格を取得した参加者に以下の様に奨励金を出す事のために主に使われます。　
奨励金以外にはミーティングルームとウェブサイトの使用料、およびセッション終了後２週間以内に自分のカテゴリーの試験に合格した参加者の内、成績２位までの人に進呈するプレゼントをの購入代に使われます。デポジットの残額は、セッション参加者の人数で公平に分けて、２週間以内に認定試験に受かった参加者にはその金額が奨励金として渡されます。
セッションに参加登録をしてデポジットの支払いをした参加者が、いかなる理由であれ決められた期間内に合格しなかったときは、その参加者の分の奨励金は、チャリティー基金としてセッション開始時にメンバーで決定した寄付先へ寄付することになります。決められた期間内に合格しなかった場合、もしくはセッションの参加を途中で取りやめた場合は、参加時にお支払いいただいたデポジットをお戻しいたしませんので、予めご了承ください。

質問３:

これまでAppleCertはどんな活動をしてきたのですか？
答え:

ACHDからACTCそしてACSAにいたるまでのTiger技術者認定資格のセッションを、１８ヶ月に渡って開催してきました。その間、会場やゲストスピーカーの手配など様々な煩雑な業務を賛同するメンバーで一生懸命やってきました。その結果、多数の人が認定試験に合格し、奨励金を受け取りました。　また残りのデポジット７５０００円は、カンボジアの過疎地であるカンダールおよびプレンペンの学校に寄付され、それぞれ教科書代および６ヶ月間のGPRSの接続費として使用されました。
