Xsan's not just for video anymore! You can now use Xsan to provide high availability file storage for use with Leopard services like home directory servers, iCal Server, Podcast Producer, and Mail services.
Dive into the basics of Xsan. Learn what we mean by metadata, and why it is important enough to require its own separate ethernet network. Find out how to ensure a clean fibre network to keep everyone happy. We'll share design considerations to ensure a robust SAN that is good for the immediate future, yet is ready for when you need to grow. We'll look at best practices for an orderly bringing-up and taking-down of your Xsan system, including preparing to deal with an unexpected power loss (even though you'll never experience one, right?). This session is geared to people who are considering Xsan, people who have inherited a clustered file system that someone else built, and people who want a little more confidence in their current setup.
